Answers to Your Questions about LATISSE®
What is LATISSE?
LATISSE solution is a prescription treatment used to grow lashes, making them longer, fuller, and darker. We offer LATISSE for eyelash enhancement to our Ann Arbor patients who have hypotrichosis, or inadequate eyelashes.
How does it work?
LATISSE is believed to affect the growth phase of the eyelash hair cycle in two ways: first, it increases the length of this phase; and second, it increases the number of hairs in this growth phase.
How soon will I see results?
The onset of effect with LATISSE solution is gradual. In the clinical trial, the majority of LATISSE users saw a significant improvement by 2 months.
How is LATISSE different?
Only LATISSE has been approved by the FDA as a prescription treatment for hypotrichosis used to grow eyelashes. It also has been studied in clinical trial to demonstrate its safety and effectiveness.
Can anyone use LATISSE?
You should not use LATISSE solution if you are allergic to one of its ingredients. Also, tell your doctor or eye care specialist if any of the following apply to you:
- Previously diagnosed with eye pressure problems
- Currently taking medication for eye pressure problems
- Have risk factors for glaucoma
People who visit us for laser hair removal, chemical peels, and other cosmetic services ask about LATISSE, as well.
What are some of the possible side effects with LATISSE?
The most common side effects after using LATISSE are eye itching or eye redness. These were reported by about 4% of users in the clinical trial. LATISSE solution may cause other less common side effects, which typically occur on the skin close to where LATISSE is applied, or in the eyes. These include skin darkening, eye irritation, dryness, or redness of the eyelids.
