How does BOTOX work?
BOTOX relaxes the tiny muscles responsible for certain facial wrinkles. After treatment, the overlying skin remains smooth and unwrinkled while untreated facial muscles contract in a normal facial expression.
Are BOTOX treatments safe?
BOTOX injections have been safely used by thousands of patients over the last 20 years. BOTOX Cosmetic is produced in a controlled laboratory and given in extremely small doses. Although it is a toxin, it is safe when administered by a trained medical professional. The most common minor complication is a slight and very temporary drooping of the eyelid. Our patients treated with BOTOX can immediately resume full activity.
Is the procedure painful?
A very tiny micro-needle is used to inject the BOTOX, with a small amount injected at various sites on the face. A topical anesthetic is applied to the treated area prior to the injections to minimize any discomfort.
When will I see results following my BOTOX treatment?
Results are usually seen within 4 to 7 days.
How long do results from BOTOX last?
BOTOX Cosmetic results typically last 3 to 4 months, depending on the number of previous treatments. A memory response may develop with repeated BOTOX injections if they are done every 3 months for approximately 1 year. So although the effects are not permanent, there may be a gradual lengthening of the interval between treatments.
